世界上真是什麼習俗都有！在印尼蘇拉威西（Sulawesi）島上的托拉雅（Toraja）民族，也有一個非常神秘的習俗，那就是「MaiNene」。在這一年一度的盛事中，托拉雅民族的人會把親人的遺體挖出來，幫遺體好好清洗一番，再替他們穿上漂亮的衣服，然後帶著親人的遺體開心遊街。
托拉雅族人除了會清洗親人遺體、替遺體穿上新衣服以外，還會修補棺材破損的部分，並讓這些遺體動動，列隊在村子裡遊行。族人還可以與親人遺體合照，這是當地紀念至親的方式。

當地信仰認為，死者的遺體一定要回家見親友，才能夠投胎轉世，所以才會出現「趕屍」的習俗。
以前，托拉雅對外交通不便，民眾都不願意出遠門，因為擔心萬一死在遙遠的異鄉就回不去故鄉了。所以只要當地民眾在外地過世，一定要尋求趕屍專家的協助，指引亡者回到故鄉。
托拉雅人把死亡看成新生，舉行葬體一點也不馬虎。並且，當地人一點都不害怕遺體，就像是跟活人相處一樣。當地人表示，他們以這樣的方式緬懷逝者，這是和死去親人相聚的最美好時光，大家都很高興。
